We would like to take a few moments of your time to share with you what
the past 3 months have held for us in Enmore, Guyana. In order to keep
this short, we may give it to you in a couple different e-mails over the
next few weeks.
Let us begin with the month of June. We started out in June with a
Medical Mission team consisting of 28 persons from Tennessee,
Mississippi, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, Missouri and I'm sure we've left
someone out. It was a well mixed group who worked great as a team in
order to see over 1,400 patients in 5 days time. Not only were we able to
treat these patients free of charge but medication was also distributed
at no cost. New reading glasses were given to those who have problems
reading because of eye problems. After each person finishes with his
physical exam, we offered them an opportunity to be involved in having a
spiritual exam. Over 100 Bible studies were conducted during that week.
Five precious souls went down into the watery grave of baptism to have
their sins washed away. Two of those persons were a man, Samad, and his
wife, Farida. Samad has been the carpenter for HOPE Children's Home and
the Church for the past 5 years. Coming from a Muslim background, it took
him a while before he was ready to study the Bible. They, along with
their 7 boys, are doing well. Also during this week we had a family of 3
who worked very hard all day long holding special "love" classes for the
children of HOPE. Much love, hugs, kisses and some tears were shared
during that week in those classes. Many stories about Jesus were planted
in these tender hearts. Two lovely teenage girls helped out each day at
HOPE by reading stories, combing hair, putting on shoes and anything else
that they saw needed to be done. We appreciate them for being so willing
to assist in those areas. The ladies of the Church/community were blessed
each day with a ladies class taught by one of our friends from
Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. Linda McAnally did a wonderful job relating to
the ladies and helping them to know better how to pattern their lives
after Jesus. She also was a great babysitter for Ezekiel. I don't know
who enjoyed it more...Ezekiel, Linda OR Samantha!! Each evening we would
gather for a Crusade to hear the word of God preached in it's simplicity.
We had great attendance from the Church as well as many visitors from the
community. It is great works like this that help us to better establish
the work of the Church here in Enmore. We cannot close out without saying
what a wonderful job Gary Hill did in organizing this team. Much hard
work goes into these efforts and usually takes 8-12 months of preparation
before the actual event takes place. Thanks Gary for a job well done! We
look forward to seeing this team again next July. We are still seeking
doctors and dentist for our next team. If you are interested, please
contact us or call Gary directly at (270) 328-8559 (office) OR (270)
328-8556 and he will be more than happy to assist you with any questions
you may have. I can assure you, working with one of these teams will be a
life changing experience.
That was our month of June. Over the next 2 weeks, we HOPE to tell you
about our OUTSTANDING VBS that we held in July. Don't miss it!!
Sharing HIS Love,
Kenneth and Samantha
